NaPoWriMo: Day 4

Staring Into The Future
Digital Painting
by
Elizabeth Crawford
The words:
run, lost, instincts, pride, doorway, eyes
It is said that the eyes are the windows of the soul. Today the challenge is to write about what you see in a pair of eyes: your own, a child’s, someone from the past, perhaps in a dream, or a stranger. Or what someone might see in your eyes.
Musical inspiration is In Your Eyes by Peter Gabriel. The words came from the music.
That painting is beautiful, Elizabeth.
It was done digitally, with a free paint program I downloaded to my computer a few years ago. I’m a sucker for indigo blue and was playing with it when I started to see the face emerge in all those swirls of color. It is one of my very favorites of all those I have done. Thanks Brenda.

Hi kiddo, am home, and this prompt really spoke to me. Thank you. Here’s my link:

For whatever reason, this prompt spoke to a few of us. My response to it was a total surprise to me. I had something altogether different in mind, but that got nixed the moment I sat to write and something completely different ended up on the page. So much so that I hesitated to post it. But, finally did so. This really is turning into quite a journey. Now I’m off to read your poem.

Thanks Viv, I’m glad that it was inspiring and happy to see you here again. Loved your sweet moment of life poem as well,

I started a long descriptive piece about deer in the mountains, and it became this piece instead. I’ll work the deer piece into something later, but got lost in my descriptions, and began to see no point. lol You can kind of see where today’s piece was born.
You packed a great deal into a few words. I forgot how winding the path can be from thought, idea, to finished poem. So glad I’m doing this with all of you.

This was a surprise and not at all what I had in mind while writing out the prompt. It’s good to know that even as old as I am, I can still totally bamboozle myself.

Catching up on posting — here’s where my eyes took me…
By the way, I also loved the image! I thought of posting it with my poem, but it’s not really what inspired me. It was just using the words. But again…the image is striking!

Love Peter Gabriel’s music, and this song is a favorite. Needed some time/distance to do justice to this prompt. Here’s my poem: https://sadlywaiting.wordpress.com/2016/04/09/in-your-eyes/
