Apple tree
high on hill
overlooking the bay,
spreads darkened limbs
in all directions,
freely
offering fruit
to any traveler
passing.

Wonderful. A lesson for us all. No judgement, no discrimination as to who is worthy of its fruit. It is abundant and freely shares of ‘its fruits’ with all.

When I was married, we had several in the backyard. In season we would borrow a press and I would make apple cider. Yes, they are the best trees,

  4. What a glorious tree – and vista! Beautiful, Elizabeth. My sister’s horse would love to park herself under that tree to catch the falling apples:)

Lovely pic. Nature offers freely of her fruit; those who think they ‘own’ the fruit (say, because the tree sits on their land) are often less generous… 😉

Nothing like being out for a walk and coming upon an apple tree offering fruit. When I was a child, there was an apple tree growing in the field behind my home. There was no greater treat for us children than for us to freely be able to help ourselves…..during an afternoon of play.

I have always liked apple and loved the gnarly hands that hold them until they are ripe. Thanks for visiting Mary. It’s really good to see you,
