Wordplay #23  Wallah

wal-lah> responsible for something: somebody in charge
of something or associated with a particular service or occupation.

from Hindi-wala  from Sanskrit pala = protector

Fancies that each and every writer
is a word wallah, holding an obligation
to choose and use all words with care
and considered awareness.

  1. “with care and considered awareness” – perfect word choices, Elizabeth – this is what you do, in your writing, always.

  2. Yes, not only what we say, but how we say it, the words we choose….so hard to get the meaning…We must be the wallah of all we say.
