Certain level of admiration
that surpasses surface charm.
Often includes a bit of fear,
as with acknowledgement
of facing a wild creature with
formidable skill at survival.
Drawn toward, yet feeling
that other surpasses one’s
own limitations. Often holds
the qualities that create
a role model. Someone
to be looked up to.
Something we would all like
to receive, yet wonder if we
have earned. May be demanded,
but not always given.

Sorry Annell, for some reason this one was a bit difficult this morning. Have no idea why. Just kept throwing ideas, but not together. I think you are right, it could be a puzzle,

I always think old people (read me) deserve respect simply because they’ve lived a long time; weathered the storm, so to speak. Being old makes one a survivor. Thoughtful poem … certainly got me thinking!

Marianne, I agree with you about earned and survivor status. I just find that it might be only we elders who conceive of it in that fashion.

Food for thought in this one, Elizabeth. You, actually, are role model for me – your writing has such depth and intelligence, and there is so much wisdom in your words. I love what you are writing based on the soul cards – magnificent work.
