Downside of up, holding
the power to become habit.
Distinct dislike for anything
joyful, happy, and light.
Perhaps a need to poke holes
in other people’s balloons?
Might be experienced by
a sharp distaste for what
is seen as frivolity. We all
have these moments. Trick
is to honor them without
doing harm. I write ‘therapy’
poems, then burn them.

hummmm…the fire. That is a way to transform things. I like this “downside of your up.”

Hey Ron, we all do that. I call mine the old witch woman. And sometimes she makes a very valid point. Now, if I could only remember to smile sweetly when she speaks….

Thanks Sherry. I need to write them, to speak them out loud, if for no other reason than to hear them myself. Fire is transforming in a very real way. Used to get together with my students periodically for an evening bonfire. We’d bring our burdens, sit around that fire and toss them in, one at a time. We didn’t speak of them, but silently watched them burn. No other way to honor them.
