Journey Stone #39

Journey Stone #38 Pensive

Quiet thoughtful space
somewhere between here
and there. Marked by certain
sadness at having to choose
between those two.

Remember coming upon her
there, curled in corner of couch,
one arm curved along its back,
while she stared out window.
Knew she was unaware
of sunlight and how it
kissed contours of her face,
her eyes turned inward
unseeing life spread out
before her.

Note: There are places in our Journey where we must face the inevitable reality of change. Change always carries with it, both the excitement of new beginnings, and the sadness of having to let go. We honor that reality in that pensive in-between place of knowing both, and allowing ourselves to feel them.

  1. I am especially struck by the line “her eyes turned inward unseeing life spread out before her.” Very insightful stuff, Elizabeth.

Sherry, while writing the first part of this, I kept seeing a former friend, just as I described her here. Decided to include the image because it is my concept of the word itself. Thanks for your always encouraging words,

Wow..this is aptly titled. I will be thinking about this for awhile. Great job! Vb

  3. I agree with Sherry’s comment above about my favorite line. The blur between conscious thought and unconscious perception… beautifully crafted work, Elizabeth. THanks for this, Amy

  4. The most interesting things happen in the “between spaces” which everyone is watching either here or there….often unseen. My favorite space.

Annell, many of us live in the past, or worry about the future. Ofen the present moment becomes that ‘between’ space and can be so easily missed. Thanks for visiting,

    ‘Quiet thoughtful space
    somewhere between her’
and there.’ – one of the best places to be from time to time.
